Domestic Violence Workshop

Outloud Productions are working with the Domestic Violence liaison officers at Essex Police.

We have produced an interactive workshop for secondary school children highlighting the effects of domestic violence, and giving young people an opportunity to talk through concerns and experiences with trained counsellors after the workshop.

The course is carefully constructed to help children to understand that they are not alone, and that there are support mechanisms in place to help them. Without structured events like this, Domestic Violence can be a secret, hidden problem that affects children for the rest of their lives.

Schools across Essex are taking part in order to achieve a social benefit.

"The Pupils Referral Unit (The PRU) were “absolutely blown away” by the effectiveness of the sessions and the way the children engaged with and were motivated by the sessions.  The PRU said that their behaviour was noticeably changed afterwards for the better and that they are still talking about it.  The PRU felt that this was an extremely worthwhile and effective way of getting an important message across. Congratulations to all of you for a job well done – I think I speak for all of us when I say that we were also pleasantly surprised at how well it went!"

Southend Domestic Violence Co-ordinator

"We have had fantastic feedback from the girls, they are all talking about it constantly - best thing we’ve done"

At Outloud we aim to inspire people to realise their potential. Whoever they are, every individual has something to give, and at Outloud they get the chance to learn how to present their skills through natural communication. Children can stretch their imaginations, improve their vocabulary and build their confidence through speech and drama lessons through our work at schools and at workshops. Adults can achieve their true potential through increased confidence.

Children love Outloud Speech & Drama. We teach communication and life skills through the exciting media of drama. Each child is unique and whatever their ability or disability we help them to realise their potential by teaching skills they need to succeed in the modern world in a happy nurturing environment.

Outloud drama began 3 years ago, and since then we've built up a team of three professional actors with experience in broadcasting, film, education and theatre. Our actors are all involved with teaching children speech and drama as well as teaching adults. Outloud offer weekly lessons on Saturdays and after school, we also run holiday drama workshops for children aged between 4 and 16.

Outloud Drama classes are great fun. We believe that learning experiences should be enjoyable and our students look forward to their time with us. At the end of each school year we hold a special production where all our students get to show parents and friends the fantastic work they have done. We are very proud of our students and they produce some wonderful shows complete with props and costumes.

Outloud Productions also hold regular one day drama workshops which introduce children to the wonderful world of the stage and are a lot of fun for all of us. Recent workshops include 'Inspector Ace and the case of the missing tarts' 'Hobbits and Hobgoblins' and many others. All workshops have a theme and at the end of the day, the children show the work they have done on stage with props and costumes. The workshops focus on introducing theatre skills to children, give them an enjoyable theatrical experience and help them to develop their social skills, within a safe and caring environment.

If you would like more details about our drama classes or to book a place at our next fantastic one-day children's drama workshop please call Sally on 07946 357521
